Phrases (and whole lines) I stole from this song for my book Camels!
"On the contrilly"
"Like short sleeves I bear arms."

Weekend Highlights / Lowlights
Highlights
The weather!
Saturday night was the terrific inauguration of the Both Both Reading Series at the apartment of John Sakkis (and Jonathan Wright). The reading was out of sight. Michael Slosek read from three different works, Alli Warren is amazing, and Suzanne Stein and Logan Ryan Smith were charming and hilarious introducers. House readings are the best. You should have gone! Not that there was a whole lot of room for you. But you should have!
I went to bed way too late on Saturday night to make Sunday even slightly intellectually productive, but I did make a Valentine’s Day fake out dinner for Alli. I made parsnip soup with beet croutons (“heart-beets”), seared squab breast, chard cooked in butter, and squab liver ravioli. And a chocolate pear chocolate tart. I had never eaten squab before, much less cooked it. It’s my new favorite, kind of. It was nice too to get the whole bird, so we could eat the breast, the liver in the ravioli, and I made a sauce from squab stock that used the whole carcass and the heart. The tart was good too, and comes from Clotilde in Paris, who rules and uses the metric system.

Lowlights
The rest of the Grammy’s, pretty much. Last year, Gnarls Barkley was good, and Christina Aguilera was really good, and I think other things were good.
Deboning a squab while hungover and the hot sun streaming through the window. Ugh.
